Malanje Child Land Mine Victim
Kissola Joao, 11, was injured by a "toe popper," an explosive device made in South Africa designed to activate larger explosives when attached with detonating cord. An anti-tank mine needs roughly 200 pounds of pressure to detonate but by attaching this switch and anti-tank mine becomes a very sensitive anti-personnel mine. Joao was injured in his village of Kinguila located 7 kilometers east of Malanje City.
